Ringwood Waldorf School is an independent day-school for boys and girls from the ages of 3 to 16 years. It has plans to extend to age 18 in the near future. There are 3 Kindergartens, 8 Lower/Middle School classes and 2 Upper School classes all accommodated in our purpose-built classrooms, with adjoining meadows and woodland. In addition, the school also runs 6 Parent and Child Groups on site for children aged 6 months and above.
The school was founded in 1974 in Folly Farm Cottage with just 6 pupils. The average number of pupils in classes is approximately 20 - 25. Ringwood Waldorf School is indicative of the growing popularity of Steiner Education.
The school is situated just outside the market town of Ringwood on the Hampshire/Dorset border. To the east lie the ancient port of Southampton and the New Forest; to the north, the plains of Salisbury and to the south, Bournemouth, Poole and the sea.
Ringwood Waldorf School is one of over 1,000 Steiner Waldorf schools and kindergartens throughout the world which welcome children from all backgrounds, of all races and religions, and which actively promote attitudes of co-operation. We use the International Steiner Waldorf Curriculum which has been tried and tested worldwide for over 90 years.
As an alternative independent school offering a holistic and healthy education, it is our endeavour to create a balance of intellectual, artistic and practical work throughout the day, so that head, heart and hands are all equally involved in the learning process. By allowing an artistic and practical element to flow into all the lessons, children experience joy in their learning.
Recognising that children feel most secure when parents and teachers work together, we encourage parents to become involved, to take a real interest in the education, and we offer several parent courses. In these ways, we build a strong community within the school.
If you would like to visit please telephone on 01425 472664 to arrange to attend an Introductory Morning, when you can go into classes and hear a talk about Waldorf Education, or come to one of our Open Days or other events to meet teachers, pupils and parents more informally.
